Delta Air Lines is expanding its partnership with the iconic cheeseburger joint Shake Shack with a special inflight version of the brand’s “mouth watering” burger available on flights departing four additional cities starting today.
In December 2024, the airline initially rolled out the sky-high burger collaboration, which was limited to First Class passengers departing from Boston Logan (BOS) on flights over 900 miles.
Delta did, however, tease that additional cities would be added throughout 2025.
As promised, four additional cities will now offer the cheeseburger as a pre-order meal for First Class passengers departing from Delta’s home hub of Atlanta (ATL), as well as Los Angeles (LAX), New York-LaGuardia (LGA) and Seattle (SEA) from March 4.
Delta’s version of the Shake Shack burger features a 100% Angus beef patty, topped with cheese and served on a toasted potato bun. Customizable additions include tomato, lettuce, and Shake Shack’s famous ShackSauce.
Rather than serving the soggy airplane oven french fries, Delta has opted to accompany its burger with chips, a Caesar salad on the side, and a dark chocolate brownie to finish.
Since rolling out the partnership just a few months ago, Delta says it has already served 10,000 Shake Shack meals, claiming it was an “instant hit” that passengers have been “raving about.”
“Our partnership with Delta has been a truly fantastic way to bring Shake Shack to even more guests in a setting where hospitality truly matters – while traveling,” commented Michael Kark, President of Global Licensing at Shake Shack, on Tuesday.
“The response has been incredible, and we’re thrilled to expand this partnership, giving even more Delta travelers the chance to enjoy Shake Shack along their journey.”
The Shake Shack burger is only available to First Class passengers departing from the five featured cities on flights over 900 miles. Passengers must pre-select the meal at least 24 hours before departure via the Delta mobile app or via a special link sent by email.
In addition to the expanded Shake Shack partnership, Delta says it plans to improve its food and beverage options across other cabins with revamped special meal menus coming to First Class and international Delta One.
The airline is also trialing an expanded range of beverages available to purchase in the main cabin, including Red Bull and a filthy margarita mix.
Of course, Delta isn’t the only airline to be partnering with well-known brands. Last December, United Airlines bagged an exclusive deal with the world-famous Magnolia Bakery to offer a special inflight version of its banana pudding.
Just like the Shake Shack burger, however, the banana pudding is only available to First Class passengers on select United flights over 901 miles.
