Boxing legend Mike Tyson is recovering after falling ill during an American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, his publicist has confirmed.
Pictures of the 58-year-old being wheeled through Los Angeles Airport in a wheelchair went viral after Tyson reportedly became nauseous and dizzy around 30 minutes before landing.
Representatives for the boxer said Tyson’s ill health was prompted by an ulcer flare-up, although he is now said to be “doing great” and is recovering at home.
In a statement, Tyson’s publicist said he was “appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”
American Airlines confirmed that flight AA1815 was met by first responder upon landing in Los Angeles due to the “medical needs of a customer”.
In July, Tyson is scheduled to take on former You Tuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul in a professional fight in Texas. Certain conditions have, however, been placed on the fight, including limiting the contest to eight, two-minute rounds.
Both boxers must also wear 14oz gloves rather than the more common 10oz gloves.
Tyson’s professional boxing career officially ended in 2015.
