If you haven’t already heard (and quite frankly, if you haven’t, where have you been?), IHG Hotels and Resorts are currently in the midst of their IHG One Rewards summer promotion, offering guests either 2,000 bonus points for every two nights or a far more generous 10,000-point bonus for every four nights.
The promotion is pretty simple, and if you have plans to stay at any of IHG’s range of hotel brands from now until the end of August, it really might be worth signing up for this offer.
The only problem is that you might have to calculate which of the two promotion options works best for you because you have to choose whether you want to target 2,000 bonus points for every two nights or 10,000 bonus points for every four nights.
Once you’ve selected one of these two options, there is no going back. In most cases, if you intend to spend four or more nights away from home through August 31, then the 10,000 for 4-night option is going to reap the biggest reward.
The only scenario where I can imagine the 2,000 for 2-night option being the better pick is if you only intend to spend two to three nights away from home over the next two and a half months. Otherwise, the 10,000 for 4-nights is always going to trump what you can earn with the former option.
There are also a few other important points to note:
- Only eligible nights costing at least $30 per night will count towards this promotion (therefore, award nights do not count towards the promotion).
- Most IHG hotels and resorts and covered, including Mr and Mrs Smith properties but some Six Senses properties and Iberostar Beachfront Resorts are excluded.
- You need to pre-register for this promotion before you book your hotel stays (if you aren’t already an IHG One Rewards member, it’s a quick and simple process to get signed up).
- Only bookings made through IHG’s official websites are eligible. Booking through travel agents or online portals like Booking.com aren’t eligible.
You don’t have to stay in a hotel for two or four consecutive nights to earn the respective bonus points, you just need to rack up two or four eligible nights to bag the bonus points.
Bonus points are in addition to the earning rate for IHG members, and elite member bonus points will be paid out as normal.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has grown into an absolutely massive hotel group with 18 brands under its belt and 6,000 properties around the world. The group includes popular household names like InterContinental, Kimpton, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites.
Bringing all of these brands together is IHG One Rewards which allows members to earn points and elite status across all of these hotels. The loyalty program was previously known as IHG Rewards but was recently updated with four member tiers: Classic, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, and a simplified earning and redemption process.
Of course, one of the best benefits of signing up for IHG One Rewards is to take advantage of redemption stays, especially when you’re looking at aspirational properties within the IHG family. This latest summer promotion is one good way to build up your balance.
