An 11-year-old girl has tragically died after losing consciousness during a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to New York JFK on Sunday.
Turkish Airlines flight TK003 departed Istanbul at around 9 am on Sunday but diverted to Budapest, Hungary, around an hour later as the medical emergency unfolded.
The Airbus A330 aircraft was met by the Airport Medical Service, and paramedics continued resuscitation efforts on the passenger. According to local Hungarian media reports, it was not possible to save the girl’s life.
Despite the tragic events, the flight has already left Budapest and is heading onwards to New York JFK and is expected to arrive around four hours late.
No further details were immediately available about what caused the girl to lose consciousness.
