A plane flying Miley Cyrus and her entourage to a music festival in Paraguay had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning, the pop superstar revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer was on her way to Asunción in Paraguay to headline the Asuncionico festival but instead, Cyrus found herself caught up in a mid-air emergency.
“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting,” Miley wrote on her Instagram.
“My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay,” the star who found fame in Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel wrote.
Cyrus featured a short video clip from inside the plane with the window being lit up by a flash of lightning. A photo posted by Miley showed what appeared to be damage inflicted to the aircraft by the lightning strike.
The weather is proving to be so bad that festival organisers decided to call off the entire event due to forecast thunderstorms that could prove to be a health hazard.
