Southwest Airlines Pilot Ties the Knot During Flight from Las Vegas
No, this isn’t an April Fools joke. A Southwest Airlines pilot really did decide to get married onboard a regulary scheduled flight from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City watched on by dozens of passengers who just happened to be booked on the same flight.
Not that this was a spur of the moment decision. York Zentner had been organizing the inflight marriage for some time and his partner Sabrina Solesbee also thought the inside of a Southwest Airline plane was the perfect place for their nuptials.
York and Sabrina’s relationship has been closely tied with Southwest. The couple first met at a Southwest Airlines ticket counter and Sabrina would regularly join York on trips flying from city to city during her days off.
In fact, York even proposed to Sabrina during a private flight over the mountain of Utah.
But why a flight from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City? Well, the couple first met in Las Vegas where York is based but the newlyweds are likely to settle in Utah where York currently lives.
As for where the wedding is actually registered, that too is in Utah as the plane was flying over Utah at the time that the ceremony took place.
York and Sabrina were joined by 15 close friends, as well as a handful of Southwest passengers who just happened to be on the same flight. The ceremony was officiated by Andrew Pabste, a fellow Southwest Pilot who is a close friend of York’s.
