Last July, British supermodel Naomi Campbell made headlines for what, at the time, seemed like a completely over the top cleaning routine that she employed whenever she got on a plane… And as a global supermodel, it’s probably safe to say that she flies pretty often. But with the global outbreak of COVID-19 Coronavirus, it was only a matter of time that Campbell, 49, took her ritual to the next level.
In her original video, Campbell put on disposable gloves, whipped out a pack of Dettol antibacterial wipes and started to wipe down every single surface around her Business Class seat. To anyone who once mocked her cleaning ritual she simply said “I do not care… It’s my health, it just makes me feel better”.
But with Coronavirus now spreading throughout the United States, it was clear that normal routine wouldn’t be enough for Campbel. In a new video, she says she was “genuinely nervous” about getting on a plane to go from Los Angeles to her home in New York.
So nervous in fact that she had cancelled a flight the day before but was now fully ready to go with a disposable hazmat suit, gloves, face mask and goggles. “This isn’t a humorous time, I’m not doing it for laughs… This is how I feel comfortable travelling” she tells the camera.
Set to a chilling music theme it certainly makes it feel like flying is dangerous. Campbell says people used to laugh at her for wearing a mask… not now she says she was right all along.
