The Dubai-based budget airline, flydubai is once again calling out for new join cabin crew to join its ranks. The application window opened yesterday and anyone who’s interested in pursuing a career with the rapidly expanding airline can apply for the position via flydubai’s official website.
The airline, which is owned by the Government of Dubai, currently has around 2,000 existing cabin crew who operate a fleet of 66 Boeing 737 aircraft to around 100 destinations – mainly in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and India. flydubai has already announced several new routes this year and more are expected soon.
So far, flydubai hasn’t given any indication of how many cabin crew they intend to hire in this latest recruitment drive – or when the application window might close. If you think this is the position for you then we would strongly recommend submitting an application as soon as you are fully prepared.
flydubai says it is looking for people with at least one year of previous customer service experience, who are “passionate, friendly and fun.” You’ll need to demonstrate that you’re a “motivated, reliable, hardworking” individual with excellent team working abilities, a resilient and flexible attitude, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a multi-national team of cabin crew.
On top of all that, you’ll also need to meet the following minimum criteria:
- At least 21-years old
- Minimum height of 158cm
- Fluent in both spoken and written English
- A valid passport which allows you unrestricted travel
- No visible tattoos or body piercings (which can’t be covered discreetly)
You don’t need previous experience as cabin crew or to had worked in the aviation industry before but this could be advantageous in your application. As with most employers in the UAE, flydubai accepts applications from all nationalities and the company will sponsor your visa should be successful.
Earlier this year, flydubai said it had seen “strong growth” in revenues, passenger numbers and profits in the past 12-months. The airline has become an integral part of Dubai’s growth and has formed a close relationship with Emirates – although the two airlines are still separate businesses, they share some resources and have a close codeshare agreement in place.
Operating an all Boeing fleet of 737 aircraft, flydubai stunned the world last year when it confirmed an order for an additional 50 aircraft worth $27billion USD at list value. flydubai currently has 245 aircraft on order with Boeing – made up of variants of the 737MAX range which have a longer range and greater fuel efficiency.
While flydubai is considered a ‘budget’ or ‘low-cost’ airline, the onboard product and service is anything but. All passengers receive free meals and refreshments, as well as seatback in-flight entertainment. The airline has even unveiled fully-flat business class seats which will be installed on its new aircraft.
More details can be found on the flydubai careers website here. You’ll notice that the job ad is for a “Dubai Assessment Centre” – However, we expect flydubai to arrange Assessment Day’s in different countries once they have a better idea of how many people have applied for the role.
