Qatar Airways Teases its Brand New Boarding Music By Local Composer, Dana Al Fardan

Qatar Airways has teased its brand new boarding music which will become the airline’s signature theme tune.  It’s expected to be heard by hundreds of thousands of passengers on board Qatar Airways aircraft around the world.  Composed by the world-renowned local composer, Dana Al Fardan, the new theme makes heavy use of strings and piano to form a melodic and relaxing welcome.

Earlier this year, Al Fardan became the official composer of the Qatar Airways Group.  The wider company includes not only the famous 5-star airline but also Hamad International Airport, Qatar Executive and a number of other subsidiary companies.

Al Fardan’s work was first used by Hamad International when her original composition, The Beginning, became the official theme tune of the Doha hub last September.  The composer also wrote the Art of Flight to accompany the launch of the new Qatar Airways Business Class seat, the QSuite.

“Travel, much like music, is experienced individually but enriched when shared with others,” Al Fardan said of her decision to collaborate with Qatar Airways.  She continued: “With Hamad International, as the doorway to literally the whole world, I wanted to invoke the spirit of adventure and the promise of experiences that will make lifelong memories. There is very little about travel that isn’t inspiring.”

A spokesperson for Qatar Airways described their choice in Al Fardan as being an easy one, saying she had a “unique ability to capture the excitement of travel in her music.”

“We are blessed to work with her,” said Salam Al Shawa, the airline’s Senior Vice President of Marketing.

Al Fardan was born and raised in Qatar.  She is the founder of DNA Records, the country’s first record label.  She says she has a growing interest in the musical possibilities for Qatar and has commented that in her opinion, one’s culture and heritage cannot be separated from the artistic process.
